Draft Experts: Size Matters, but Does It?
Devonta Smith appeared on “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network and was immediately asked about his size. “It fuels me,” he replied. At 6’1” 175 pounds, he’s just the receiver the Miami Dolphins need.
Devonta Smith just won the Heisman Trophy. He accumulated over 1800 receiving yards and had 23 touchdowns. These stats all by playing an all SEC regular season schedule with a new Quarterback. Does his size really matter?
Smith knows how to win, he’s a 2x National Champion. Not only that, he knows how to win with Tua. A 41 yard go route down the sideline to win a Super Bowl sounds pretty awesome for teammates who have publicly stated that they “want to run it back.”
I know analysts say this or that about players. I never know what to believe around draft time. He’s falling in some mock drafts because of the size narrative. The Miami Dolphins, as they have done all offseason, need to silence the critics and focus on the motion of the ocean.
Devonta Smith is fast. He brings electricity and chemistry to the franchise. The Dolphins must pull the trigger on this generational talent.
It seems like the Dolphins have done everything this offseason to make Tua better. It’s time to #DraftDevonta and make him a Miami Dolphin.
