Trust the Process: The Miami Dolphins Rebuild
The Miami Dolphins continue to be the topic of conversation this offseason in regards to franchise quarterbacks. Tua struggled at times last season, but looked great at times also. Much what you would expect from a rookie. Tua got to learn from one of the smartest QB’s in the business. He was able to sit and learn that sometimes you need to have a little Fitzmagic to win in the NFL. Now, Tua gets to learn from the same coaches that he was surrounded with last year. The continuation of the rebuild.
This situation had me thinking about the Indianapolis Colts back when they drafted Peyton Manning. The Colts went 3-13 that year. They were rebuilding. They rebuilt through the draft and trusted the process.
Tony Dungy was on The Pat McAfee Show recently and talked about rebuilding through the draft versus free agency. The Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl team was all slowly built: Marvin Harrison, Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Joseph Addai, and Bob Sanders were all drafted by the Colts and played on that Super Bowl Championship team.
So, how did the rebuild turn out for the Colts franchise QB? Tony Dungy was the first African-American coach to win a Super Bowl, and Peyton Manning is a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Trust the process.
