EXCLUSIVE: NFC/AFC Championship Preview plus FREE Championship Sunday Picks!
In 2020, no day felt normal. Each anxiety filled day followed by the next wishing, hoping, and clinging for information. However, when September rolled around, the NFL brought back some sense of normalcy for football fans. NFL RedZone, say it with me, “7-hours of commercial free football starts…NOW!” The past 19 weeks, football fans have been able to tune-in Sunday’s and escape from the world and get a sense of normalcy. Sure, there weren’t fans in some stadiums, but never did that take away from the viewing experience.
Championship Sunday is always a special weekend of football. The final four teams in the NFL represented by the most elite talent the NFL has to offer. Getting to this weekend is extremely difficult, next weekend, even more so. There are going to be cold, snowy conditions Sunday in Green Bay. Freezing cold temperatures, possible rain, and the loudest 20% capacity stadium the world has ever heard at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Let’s break it down.
Bucs vs. Packers 3:05pm (EST) FOX: It’s not really Brady vs. Rodgers, but it is. Brady back in Championship weekend for the 15th time in his career. Rodgers FINALLY, gets to play one of these things at home, in Green Bay, in front of the cheeseheads for only the 2nd time all year, where he becomes a sort of a Jedi. Both teams have been on fire offensively and defensively. The big story of the week leading up to this, other than Aaron Rodgers smoothly dancing in the cold, is that Antonio Brown is out. Antonio was getting hot, and it will be interesting to see how his knee affects his offseason opportunities. I think Brady keeps the boys humming, but Rodgers and the Pack put the Bucs in the literal freezer in the 4th quarter and Rodgers will be dancing in confetti on the 50 yard line by dinner time. This will be a 10 point game late, give me the PACKERS -3.5. Go. Pack. Go.
Bills vs. Chiefs 6:40pm (EST) CBS: aka The Tony Romo Show! For the love of God I hope Tony has read some Twitter reviews and dials it down a notch this week. Regardless, we are going to get to watch some great football and take a glimpse of the future of the NFL. For Kansas City, the future is already here. Coming off of a Super Bowl win, they are in prime position to make a return trip to the Sunshine State to reclaim the Lombardi Trophy. Mahomes, after receiving “expert, independent,” advice from a 3rd party doctor, has been deemed non-concussed and we will get to watch him slice and dice a red hot Buffalo D. The Bills come in kind of nonchalantly rolling through the AFC. Dominating the “must-win” Miami Dolphins in week 17 while only playing their starters in the first half. Holding serve at home against a scary Colts team and future HOF candidate Phillip Rivers. The Ravens game was close, I guess, but not really, the Bills always felt in control of that blustery night in Buffalo. The BIG thing that people are not talking enough about is Patrick Mahomes’ toe. If he cannot move like he normally does, the Bills will keep this close. I know most of America wants to see the Bills in the Super Bowl, but Vegas is telling you that it is NOT going to happen (Chiefs -3 -120, ML -180) vs. (Bills +3 +100, ML +150). Give me the Chiefs -3 (although It will probably push).
There it is, Packers/Chiefs Super Bowl in Tampa. No upsets, this weekend boring start to this blog.
Again, I know nothing. Have a great Championship Sunday!
